French to English Book Translations

Here are some of my previously published French to English book translations:
Books by Mauritanian author Moussa Ould Ebnou:
Honeymoon on the Moon and other stories (previously titled Fragments of Futures),
a collection of science fiction short stories chock-full of unexpected twists.
Barzakh: The Land In-Between,
a novel that blends mysticism, religion, philosophy, and Mauritanian culture
in a surreal reflection on the human condition (listed on Brittle Paper's 100 Notable African Books of 2022);
and Pagan Mecca, a medieval fantasy novel
set in 7th century Arabia that interweaves history and mythology
to bring to life the violent, turbulent, idolatrous pre-Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca,
while hinting at a better way of life to come with the advent of Islam.
My translation of the six-book series, Elfie, by French author Gabrielle Dubois came out in 2022.
This exciting and romantic adventure follows Elfie on her quest for happiness, love, and above all freedom
in the fascinating yet sexist world of the late 19th century.

In 2024, my translation of Sinapi Seed by Franck Jourdain was published.
In his study of philosophy, metaphysics, and Biblical exegesis,
the author invites us to different way of thinking human relations, our relationship to things,
and our relationship to the world.
The Child from Dindefello Falls by Aminta Dupuis is a declaration of love for Africa,
celebrating the diverse human and unique spiritual treasures of this often misrepresented continent.
My translation of this book won the inaugural Iskanchi Press book prize in 2024
and will be published by Iskanchi Press in 2025.
